The Bloomington Pantagraph’s Editorial Board writes that Illinois needs to get taxes under control.
Illinois property owners pay among the highest property taxes in the nation, and those taxes have grown for the last several years faster than personal income, inflation or population growth.
The results of these high taxes are clear to see. When possible, businesses and people are leaving Illinois for states that are better fiscally managed and where taxes demand less of their personal income. Illinois will not be attractive to new businesses, and new residents, until it gets property and other taxes under control.
